Main Job Description

Being a leader means helping others to be the best versions of themselves. To keep a team excited about reaching goals and improving themselves, a leader never takes credit for success and is rarely praised. Anyone applying for this role should be ready to work hard to help us make the world a better place, but do not expect too much glory from it. At Jungle School, leaders work harder than anyone else, and set an example of what we expect from the rest of the team.

We make hard decisions, we come up with big ideas, and we teach others how to create magic from the normal little things they do day-to-day. For anyone applying to be a Principal in Jungle School, we are offering you the chance of a lifetime. With students from around the globe, in a unique school environment, the possibilities of what we can do together are endless.

The main tasks entrusted to a Principal are...

  1. Daily

    1. Supervising each class from time to time to make sure the "suasana" is happy and fun. Making any corrections necessary on the spot.

    2. Taking quick notes of anything important for progressive staff evaluations

    3. Responding to parents/students/teachers needs

  2. Weekly

    1. Sending out a syllabus of learning materials for each class

    2. Meeting with each teacher/class at least once a week to get an informal progress report. Give encouragement or advice for any struggles.

      1. Offering any support needed for lesson plans

  3. Monthly

    1. Hold a small workshop where you work on an area that needs improvement or teach your team a new skill. Think of this as "rapat bulanan" but where nobody is just wasting their time.

    2. Ensuring that each class compiles their lesson plans for school records.

  4. Semesterly

    1. Manage the report card process

    2. Do personal evaluations for your staff

    3. Create some kind of event which is exciting for kids and not too much work for parents. This event can be reoccurring each year.

      1. Examples that we have done in the past include: Science Fair, Family Circus, Wild Week, Open House...

    4. Probably a little bit of Government paperwork

      1. But not too much because we have our own internal and external Administrators who handle most of this â€‹

  5. Yearly

    1. Creating and signing certificates for every child

  6. Occasional

    1. There will be occasional meetings from DINAS. Sometimes they will be scheduled, sometimes they will not. No matter what, you have to be ready.

    2. In light of what was required from schools in 2020-2023, we cannot promise that there will not be some crazy, horrible thing that we have to do. Maybe put school online, maybe create hybrid learning programs, maybe something else. But as part of the leadership team, you will be responsible to help Jungle School walk through whatever storms may come.
