Main Job Description

  • Jungle School is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Curriculum Development Assistant to support the development, refinement, and implementation of engaging and innovative educational programs. Working closely with the Curriculum Developer, this role involves transforming initial concepts into fully detailed, usable projects, as well as assisting with proofreading, editing, and improving various curriculum materials.

  • This is a full-time, in-person position based at the Jungle School office. Remote work is not available.​​​

Job Responsibilities​

  • Develop and expand School Determined Projects and other curriculum components based on provided templates and ideas.

    • The Curriculum Development Assistant will take initial concepts, outlines, and themes provided by the Curriculum Developer and transform them into structured, detailed projects that align with the school’s educational goals. This includes integrating multiple subjects into each project, ensuring that learning experiences are interdisciplinary, engaging, and practical.​

  • Ensure projects are detailed, engaging, and align with Jungle School’s interdisciplinary, project-based learning approach.

    • Projects should not only cover academic content but also encourage critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. The assistant will ensure that all projects follow the school’s philosophy of experiential learning and incorporate real-world applications.​

  • Proofread, edit, and refine curriculum materials, including Literacy Curriculum and other academic content.

    • All educational materials must meet high-quality language and content standards. The assistant will review documents for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and proper structure while ensuring alignment with the school’s vision and teaching methods.​

  • Collaborate closely with the School's Founder to adapt curriculum to meet student needs and evolving educational goals.

    • As student needs change, projects and lesson plans will require adaptation. The assistant will regularly communicate with the school founder and teaching staff to make necessary modifications to the curriculum, ensuring that it remains effective and relevant.​

  • Research best practices and innovative teaching strategies to enhance Jungle School’s curriculum.

    • The assistant will stay informed about current educational trends, instructional strategies, and curriculum design methods. They will be responsible for consulting about new techniques and ideas that can improve student learning experiences and engagement.​

  • ​Work within project deadlines to ensure all materials are ready for implementation.

    • Meeting deadlines is essential to ensure that teachers receive a well-structured and timely curriculum. The assistant must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and ensure all curriculum components are completed and ready for classroom use when needed.​​​

General Requirements

  • Minimum S1 (Bachelor’s) degree in Education, Curriculum Development, English, or a related field.

  • Fluent in both active and passive English (spoken and written) to effectively develop and refine curriculum materials.

  • Strong writing, editing, and curriculum development skills.

  • Creative thinker with the ability to bring abstract ideas to life through structured, detailed educational projects.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced school environment.

  • Prior experience in curriculum development, education, or instructional design is preferred but not required.

Skills Required

  • Design (Canva & Other Tools): The Curriculum Development Assistant must have strong design skills to create visually appealing and well-structured educational materials. This includes:

    • Using Canva (and similar design tools) to create engaging presentations, worksheets, and learning resources that enhance student understanding.

    • Ensuring that all materials have a clear layout, readability, and professional aesthetic to support learning.

    • Designing infographics, charts, and visual aids to present complex information in an easy-to-digest format.

    • Developing visually engaging student activity sheets, teacher guides, and project instructions that align with Jungle School’s educational philosophy.

  • Research: Strong research skills are essential for ensuring that all curriculum materials are accurate, up-to-date, and relevant. The assistant must:

    • Gather reliable information from credible academic sources, government guidelines, and real-world examples to enhance project-based learning.

    • Verify the accuracy and relevance of facts, statistics, and case studies used in lesson plans.

    • Stay informed on global education trends, interdisciplinary teaching strategies, and innovative learning techniques to continuously improve Jungle School’s curriculum.

    • Research real-world applications of academic concepts to ensure that students engage in meaningful, practical learning experiences.

  • English Writing: Strong written communication skills are crucial for developing clear, structured, and engaging curriculum content. The assistant must:

    • Write concise, clear, and grammatically correct instructional materials that are easy for both students and teachers to understand.

    • Develop detailed lesson plans, project guides, and assessment tools that effectively communicate learning objectives and expectations.

    • Edit and proofread curriculum materials to ensure consistency, coherence, and proper structure.

    • Adapt writing styles for different audiences, including student-friendly explanations, formal teacher instructions, and professional documents for curriculum planning.

  • Organization: The ability to stay organized is crucial for managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and maintaining a structured curriculum. The assistant must:

    • Keep track of various curriculum materials, lesson plans, and assessment tools in an organized manner for easy access and revision.

    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that all materials are completed on time and ready for implementation.

    • Develop and maintain a structured filing system for digital and printed curriculum resources.

    • Assist in coordinating curriculum schedules, deadlines, and revisions to ensure smooth execution of Jungle School’s educational programs.
